Standards

A Corporate Member of the Institute (the most senior grade) must be 30 years of age or older and have the following experience/qualifications:

  • 5 years assessing experience
  • A mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent
  • A City & Guilds Full Technological Certificate, or equivalent Tech, an HND/HNC, or a technical degree in engineering from an approved University

The Institute's examination and accreditation procedure ensures that a corporate member has a full understanding of the following:

  • Evaluation of motion and collision of road vehicles
  • Motor insurance legislation
  • Principles and practice of damage assessment
  • Specifics of motor insurance
  • Practical assessment

There are more than 40 technical colleges nationwide offering IAEA accredited courses.
